Clinical Supervision in Idaho

Become eligible to register as a Clinical Supervisor with the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licensing.

This course prepares clinical social workers to provide clinical supervision for new social workers and meets the 15-hour training requirement of the Idaho Occupational Licensing Board to be listed as a clinical supervisor.

Objectives:

• Become aware of the importance of the developmental process for supervisees
• Anticipate the kinds of problems encountered in clinical supervision and how to deal with these issues
• Understand the importance of including cultural components in the model of supervision selected
• Design the model of supervision you wish to use in your practice
• Understand the importance of ethical guidelines provided to supervisees

Presenters:

Kathy Tidwell, LCSW; Alberta Dooley, LCSW, Ph.D
Kathy Tidwell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently working at Boise State University School of Social Work as the Director of the Institute for Families & Communities. She also owns Tidwell Social Work Services & Consulting, a mental health clinic specializing in trauma work and practice with refugees. She received her Master's degree in social work from California State University, Sacramento in 1989. In addition to the years of direct practice, she has also worked for many years as a supervisor, a manager and a consultant.

Alberta Dooley, Ph.D
Alberta Dooley received her Ph.D in 1996 from the University of Denver. Dr. Dooley is currently on the faculty of the Boise State University School of Social Work, She has been teaching practice classes in social work for the past sixteen years. Prior to teaching Dr. Dooley was in private practice in Boise Idaho for five years.
