Part 1 – High Stakes Presentations: Advanced Skills for Planning Important Presentations

When the stakes are high it's crucial to think and plan carefully.

It's crucial to think and plan carefully before you start creating your presentation. In this workshop you'll plan and draft a short talk you'd deliver in your workplace. We'll focus on defining your goals, understanding your audience, and techniques for crafting a talk that's tailored to your situation.

Objectives:

  • Learn to clearly define your goals for a presentation
  • Learn to analyze your particular audience
  • Learn common organizational principles for effective speeches
  • Apply principles by drafting a short presentation aimed at your specific audience and situation

Part 2 – High Stakes Presentations: Advanced Skills for Delivering Important Presentations

Transform the draft you've planned into a polished presentation

Bring a draft presentation that you have planned to this course. We'll move through exercises on relaxation, voice and body language, which you'll apply as you deliver your presentations in small groups.

Objectives:

  • Learn to use body language (posture and gestures) that complement your message
  • Learn to mark up a script in preparation for a presentation
  • Collect feedback on your short presentation from others in a small group

  • Receive instruction in specific presentation strategies
  • Apply strategies learned by making presentations in small groups
