The undergraduate program (BSW) in social work was established in 1966 and is the oldest social work program in Idaho. Our MSW program was established in 1991. The Northern Idaho Advanced Standing MSW Program began in June 2006 in Lewiston and Coeur d’Alene. A three-year, full-program option began in Lewiston and Coeur d’Alene in August 2008. Advanced Standing and Full-Program MSW Programs were started in August 2008 in Twin Falls. The Boise State University MSW Program was initially accredited in 1992. All Boise social work programs have been reaffirmed for accreditation through 2010 by the Council on Social Work Education.

The School prepares students to work with diverse populations and issues. As our mission statement indicates, we educate students for advanced direct practice with individuals, families, households, groups, organizations and communities.
